CHINESE EXPORT SILVER & JADE BOX c1890 WANG HING & BENSABOTT, CHICAGOA fine and very, very rare late 19th century
Chinese export silver scholar's box from
Wang Hing.
Adorned with hand carved jade elephant feet, and
jade wing butterfly from the craftsmen at
Bensabott, Chicago, c1920s.
A unique, one of a kind example of Chinese export silver,
embellished with
Art Deco hand carved jade.
The jade wing butterfly to front has never been monogrammed.
This rare Chinese export silver with hand carved jade accents is 6 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches
and weighs 18 standard ounces, less the jade, and partial liner.
Signed Wang Hing 90, and characters, and retailer Bensabott, Chicago.
In very fine condition.
Appears little used.
Rich silver patina throughout.
Retains original detail.
Cover closes perfectly firm.
Partial interior liner in fine state.
Upper right corner bent to jade on cover.
