1931 Catalog No. 14
Sheridan, Wyoming
Otto Frederick Ernst was born in Louisville, Kansas in 1872.  He worked for a craftsman named Dogion.  Otto and his family moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1900.
H
e worked at several different jobs, including saddle making for George Parmeter.     In 1902 Otto and John Buckley opened the Ernst-Buckley Saddlery, continued    until 1907. Then due to a disagreement, the partnership was dissolved.  Otto bought Buckley's share of the business.  It is believed that Buckley went on to Lander Wyoming and then to California.
Otto's youngest brother, John E. Ernst became the master saddler in the family business.  Otto's oldest son Ernest (Ernie) F. joined the firm some time before 1921.
Otto died in 1938, John Ernst died in 1952 and one year after Ernie died, the doors were closed on this famous saddlery in 1975.
